Symantec Protection 5.1 for SharePoint Servers provides detection, removal, and repair of viruses, spyware, and other threats. Using Symantec’s proven antivirus technologies, it quickly scans files in real time as they are uploaded and downloaded. The version integrates into the SharePoint Administration Console and provides support for Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2010 and 2007, Microsoft SharePoint Foundation 2010, SharePoint Portal Server 2003, and Windows SharePoint Services 2.0, and 3.0.

Real-time scanning for both uploaded and downloaded files

Symantec Protection 5.1 for SharePoint Servers leverages the power of Symantec’s award-winning antivirus technologies and allows for the updating of virus definitions on the fly without interrupting scanning services. The Symantec scan engine detects viruses, worms, and spyware—even in compressed and archived formats. All documents are scanned in real time as they are uploaded or downloaded from SharePoint document libraries.

Scheduled and manual scanning

Scheduled scans of the SharePoint document library help ensure that files that have not been previously inspected are protected and that scanning is kept up to date as virus definitions change. Scheduled scanning occurs in the background and does not affect real-time scanning. Administrators can also conduct manual, on-demand scanning of the SharePoint library whenever new virus definitions become available.
